Job Description

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Reliability & Qualification Engineer to bring strong technical expertise and engineering leadership to challenging new programs. As a reliability subject-matter expert, you will work across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to identify vulnerabilities early, develop effective reliability and qualification strategies, learn from failures, and drive improvements as products transition from development into full-rate production.

Help shape the reliability of advanced stabilized imaging systems designed to perform in demanding environments. Our products integrate precision mechanics, sophisticated electronics, optics, sensors, and software to deliver essential mission capability.

This is more than a test execution role. You will help determine what needs to be tested, how systems should be stressed, and what the results tell us about product risk and readiness. Your technical judgment will directly influence design decisions, qualification strategy, failure resolution, and production readiness while helping strengthen our reliability engineering discipline.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

* Lead reliability engineering and qualification activities for complex stabilized EO/IR systems, helping identify and reduce technical risks before production release.
* Translate customer, contractual, and system requirements into measurable reliability objectives, verification methods, acceptance criteria, and qualification evidence.
* Partner with design engineering to identify reliability risks and influence design decisions using appropriate analytical methods such as FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, reliability prediction, and system-level modeling.
* Develop and execute reliability growth, Design Verification Testing (DVT), environmental qualification, and reliability demonstration strategies using accelerated, margin-based, HALT, or other appropriate test methods.
* Investigate test and product failures, lead root-cause analysis with cross-functional teams, and verify corrective-action effectiveness through targeted retesting.
* Analyze reliability and failure data using appropriate statistical methods and support FRACAS activities to identify trends, drive corrective action, and improve product reliability.
* Use development and qualification results to inform Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), production screening, and production-readiness decisions.
* Provide technical leadership for internal and external reliability and environmental testing, including test definition, execution, anomaly resolution, and review of results.
* Communicate qualification status, technical risks, and recommendations to engineering, program stakeholders, customers, and leadership, and support continuous improvement of reliability and test processes.

Job Qualifications – Required Experience & Skills:

* Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering, science, or a related technical discipline.
* 5+ years of experience in reliability, qualification, environmental test, or related engineering for complex electronic, electromechanical, or similarly technical systems.
* Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and developing reliability or qualification strategies as products transition from development to production.
* Practical experience with reliability methods such as FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, reliability growth, accelerated testing, HALT, FRACAS, reliability prediction, or ESS. Experience with all methods is not required.
* Experience developing and executing environmental and reliability test plans, including selection of test conditions, sample sizes, duration, acceptance criteria, and interpretation of results.
* Experience investigating technical failures, performing root-cause analysis, and working with cross-functional teams to implement and validate corrective actions.
* Working knowledge of statistical reliability methods and environmental testing, including temperature, shock, and vibration testing.
* Familiarity with environmental qualification standards such as MIL-STD-810 and the ability to interpret and apply requirements appropriately.
* Strong technical judgment, communication, and writing skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical risks and recommendations to engineering and nontechnical stakeholders.

Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
